Day 90 – Time to Make the Donuts …

Our life is what our thoughts make it. – Marcus Aurelius

I have emerged from my food coma to make my daily post, oh boy, this should be fun. So I did manage to find a new subject today and I wasn’t even looking! Thank you, Easter Bunny, in the form of my muse.

Can you guess today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture? Do you know?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 89)

Who would have ever thought yesterday’s post, “Mmmmmm … Butter” would generate so many likes. Did I hit the universal appeal of butter? After all, it is delectable and delicious. mmmmmm butter! But I digress. As for the identity of yesterday’s subject …

It wasn’t the back and wings of an angel statue (but I can see that vision!), not metal, not asphalt, rocks? Kind of. Something in the cemetery? No. A crack in the sidewalk? Ding ding ding! Gail guessed it again! Again! 🙂

The Traveling Sun Spot

I viewed the sun at three different times today, and each time this glorious orb gave much to see. Following are pics from the second and third viewings (using my telescope, camera, and solar filter). Click the pictures to see the descriptions and all of the sun spots!Image

Day 89 – Mmmmmmm … Butter

A jug fills drop by drop. – Buddha

Today’s post is short, and my daily mystery “what is it?!?” picture is ready for you to guess. This is something that I just happened to notice while looking at something else. Funny how that happens, eh? Can you tell?

What Is It?!?

ImageWhat Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 88)

Was it cheese? No. Kitchen sponge? No. Baguette? No, it’s not a bread product. How about bleu cheese or cheese cloth? No. Yarn? No. Is it food? Yes. Eggs? No. French or Italian bread? Not bread. It looks starchy? Not a starch. Some sort of dairy? Yes. Cream cheese? Nope. Whipped cream? Getting closer! Ice cream? Getting colder! An amoeba? Ha ha, no! Ice cream? No. Icing? No. Cream foam? Cappuccino? Butter? YES! Yes, it’s butter.

I was inspired by the patterns this melted butter had made in my cast iron skillet. I had no idea how funky it would look up close! You never know what something really looks like until you look really close.

Monster Sun Spot!

Lots of solar activity today, including a monster sun spot!

This photo was taken with a 2x “doubler” so this picture is not cropped! Looks much more impressive through the eyepiece, in this case, my camera.

Day 88 – Taking a Magic Carpet Ride

Imagination is the true magic carpet. – Norman Vincent Peale

I feel like I’ve taken a magic carpet ride with all of the sun and moon gazing I’ve done the last couple of days … and nights. While most were asleep in my “neck of the woods” (as we say around here), I was up outside, whispering many bad words at my telescope/camera contraption, while attempting to get it positioned just so. You’d think it would be easier to get this huge orb in frame. Ha! And then finally, there she was, Bella Luna, shining like, well, I’d say a “star,” but … she was all aglow. Magnificent craters were visible and I managed to capture some of those (look for another post later).

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture has absolutely nothing to do with the sun or moon. Just like yesterday’s photo, this subject found me, the inspiration was just there! Let’s see if y’all can figure out what this is. Do you know?

What Is It?!

20130329-2013_03_29_3673-2What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 87)

Yesterday was epic; I’ve never had so many varied guesses as last night, it particularly showed me just how vast our individual perspectives can be. How one item can look like oh-so-many different things. So, shall we go through the list of what this item was not?

20130328-2013_03_28_3390It’s not the round part that holds bike gears, bubble wrap, shower head, garlic press, potato masher, colander, gold jewelry, costume jewelry, iron, it’s not laying on or mounted to wood, thinly sliced Swiss cheese, drain or the “thing” you put in the drain, part of a meat grinder or pasta making gadget, nor is it a French coffee press, receiver to an “old” type phone, speaker, dip stick in honey, rain on a screen door, it’s not oil, flowing liquid, salt water taffy, cat’s tongue, carpet pad, a tool, washing a car, nor a muffin tin, and we’re still going … bird feeder, condensation on glass (okay, it’s glass, but on what?), part of a wind chime, light house light, or plastic window. Whew, that’s a lot of guesses!

Drum roll … yesterday’s picture was an angled view of a glass pane in an outdoor candle lamp. As a matter of fact, I’ve used a different part of that before for a mystery “what is it?!?” picture. Does this look familiar?

Red Sun Rising

20130329-2013_03_29_3642-2

The sun is alive with sun spots today! Got a new t-ring adapter that allows my camera to attach to my telescope, and am very happy that it works much easier than my older one. I’ll be taking more pictures this evening!

Managed to get some sun time in today, these pictures were taken using the telescope as the camera lens. Note the spot/flare that appears in the lower left quadrant, it was only captured in one photo.

Day 87 – Switching Gears

Color is an intense experience on its own. – Jim Hodges

I am reveling in the sunshine that I soaked up while finding little treasures in my yard and on my prolific flowering bushes, not to mention the sun rays that beat down on me while I took photographs of the sun through my telescope. Finally, a day here in Northern Florida that wasn’t cold or windy! I’m still seeing visions of purple and yellow tiny little wildflowers covering the ground.

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture, I think, looks like something other than what it is, but it might just be me. I never know! Let’s just hope that it garners more than one guess before its identity is discovered. 🙂

What Is It?!?

ImageWhat Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 86)

Metal? It looks like something with ridges like a gear … yes, it’s metal, and yes, it’s a gear. Bicycle gear? Ding ding ding, yes, it’s a bicycle gear. Carissa and Gail both got it right. Right off the bat! Obviously I didn’t disguise yesterday’s picture very well. Or, I was just giving y’all a break. 😉
