Day 181 – Thirteen Candles

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are? – Satchel Paige

I’m still a firm believer that I’m just a grown-up twenty-something, but the number of candles on my cakes tell me otherwise. So does my driver’s license. And my skin. However, I think young, and my 10-year old keeps me young (at least I keep on telling myself that)! Tonight we celebrate my oldest niece’s 13th birthday, which is beyond “wow,” how did time go so fast? This once little baby that changed all of our lives is now a young woman. WOW! Well, little brother, welcome to a girl’s teenage years, buckle up for the ride!

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is something my son insisted that I photograph. So we’ll see if I did a good enough job for him. Do you know? Can you tell?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 180)

I was convinced that yesterday’s picture would be guessed immediately. If I had not changed the color and used its negative image, all of you surely would have guessed the subject. It’s one of those items that is just really difficult to disguise. But I must have done a better job than I thought, because there’s only one guess to report. Melisa thought it looked like a “bluish blanket studded with diamonds (design)!” I wish!

So what was it? What you saw was a skein of multi-colored yarn. A couple of years ago I picked up my crocheting hooks and became “hooked” … I freely admit I’m a yarn junkie. 😀

Day 180 – Not Such a Mystery

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. – Winston Churchill

While it’s raining (again), I’m limited to what my subjects are, so I’ve used an older photograph for today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture. It’s one of those photos that without any color manipulation, you’d certainly know what this is. I’m betting it doesn’t take more than one guess today …

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 179)

Yesterday’s picture didn’t fool Gail at all, she quickly figured out that what you saw was tree bark. That’s what tree bark looks like with a negative image. Melisa read Gail’s correct guess but still offered her perspective: a chocolate brownie cake. Mmmmmm, yummy!

Day 179 – Zen Moments

The Dove, on silver pinions, winged her peaceful way. – James Montgomery

My moment of peace, pure zen, is happening at this very moment, as my 14-year old cat, Shadow, is resting on my lap as I work. Her constant purring is almost as tranquil as the sound of the steady rain.

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture was a normal photograph until I tweaked its color and used its negative image. Now it looks nothing like the original! Can you tell? Do you know?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 178)

Was is a flower? No. How about a conch shell? Not that either. “Almost looks like a dental impression.” Not one of those. How about clay, play dough, or something moldable? It’s definitely not moldable. “A popped pink balloon on some white pottery?” Interesting perspective! But not that either. So what was it?

What you saw was part of a silver ice bucket with reflections of its surrounding item’s colors. Quite abstract, eh?!?

Weekly Photo Challenge: Companionable

I cannot help but post a picture of two of our furry felines with their companion, Ian. The other picture is Ian and one of his constant companions, Army buddy, “Teddy Bear, Joe.”   (Two pictures) 😀

Day 178 – Abstraction

I’m an idealist. I don’t know where I’m going, but I’m on my way. – Carl Sandburg

What’s so fascinating about the creative process is never knowing where you’re headed or what the final destination will be … just all of a sudden the muse has taken over and you’re along for the ride. I love it!

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is quite abstract. Considering that I could not figure out what I wanted to photograph today, I’m pleased I ended up with anything. Muse has gone out and deserted me.

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 177)

Yesterday’s picture generated some funny perspectives again. For example, the first guess: “I think I saw that in the back of my fridge. I coulda sworn I threw it out.” Rest assured, it’s not a science experiment! Is it the sole of a shoe? Not the sole of a shoe. A foam roller? Not that either. “Is it a zoomed in chunk of the rusted green roof from yesterday?” Ha ha, not it’s not a zoomed in chunk of that rusted roof! Is it a sugar cookie? Not a sugar cookie.

So what was it? What you saw was a different perspective of a subject I posted a few days ago. Remember that decorative hanging strand of glass circles? (Day 174) This was a different-colored circle, a blue one. I thought it was interesting the entirely different pattern, one you wouldn’t see without zooming in.

Raindrops

Sometimes I like the abstract look on life, such as these raindrops clinging to the Bottle Brush bush. (Two pictures)
