Day 175 – Be a Crank

A person with a new idea is a crank until the idea succeeds. –ย Mark Twain

Try to imagine our modern-day world without any of the technological, medical, electrical, etc. advancements that have been made over just the last century. Can you? I cannot. Imagine a world without electricity, motored cars, television, cell phones, the Internet, oh my! What if none of us ever had a new idea? Or thought outside the box? What if that first cave man (or woman) hadn’t drawn on the cave walls? Mind numbing, it’s quite impossible to imagine.

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is the subject I chose to photograph yesterday, but didn’t use any of those pictures. Instead, I used what my muse eventually led me to. Can you tell what today’s picture is? Do you know?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 174)

Yesterday’s picture generated many, many guesses and perspectives. Hearing all of the different items this mystery subject could be is quite fascinating (and the entire gist of this project)! “The green stuff looks like some kind of fabric.” Not fabric. “It looks like wood to me. Perhaps a close up of a child’s building block (because of the green colour) – but maybe some shelving.” Not wood either. Is it skin? Not skin. Could it be a wall? Not a wall. Is it plastic? Not plastic. Plaster? Not plaster. Metal? Not metal. “It is actually a strand from a Hawaiian grass skirt.” LOL, not that either! A butterfly wing? A flower petal. Neither. “It’s the wing of the Robot Vampenstein!” Ha ha, not a wing. Is it a sunhat made from straw? Nope. And the last (and most imaginative) guess: “I know, it’s the jeweled fish of paradise that lives in the sunlit tide pools of Malaysia!” Alas, not that either.

So what was it? What you saw was a close-up of a decorative hanging strand of glass circles. Here’s a larger perspective.
