Day 357/365 – A Reason to Smile

Peace begins with a smile. – Mother Teresa

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is now ready for your guessing pleasure.  Can you tell? Do you know?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 356)

The closer we get to the end of the year, the more my muse leaves me alone to figure out my elusive mystery subjects. At least I’m out of my usual surroundings, so I was able to quickly identify today’s subject. Yesterday’s subject, however, took a little more time to figure out. I thought, “I’ll use something that is common to everyone.” I was pleasantly surprised to see what an abstract result appeared! Kim figured it out immediately. “Aluminum foil?” Ding ding ding! Jude commented, “I can see foil too, though maybe a silk scarf? Whatever it is I do like the colours in this abstract.” What a pretty perspective!

So yes, what you saw was a somewhat crinkled piece of aluminum foil. 🙂

Day 356/365 – Happiness Is …

Happiness is realizing that nothing is too important. – Antonio Gala

And also being down to the last nine posts of this project is happiness! Speaking of which, today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is now ready for your guessing pleasure.  Can you tell? Do you know?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 355)

I didn’t intentionally make yesterday’s subject a difficult one, it’s just something I noticed while looking closely at this object (you know how I tend to do that type of thing). 😉 Brenda asked, “Are those lights?” Not lights, but don’t they sure look like lights! “Reflections in a mirror or crystal?” Not reflections in a mirror or crystal. “Is it Christmas related? Is it reflected anything?” Not Christmas, and not reflected anything. Jude commented, “I thought they were Christmas lights too, but obviously it was too obvious.” LOL Mic’s perspective was really interesting, “Ok, Schelley, this is tough; I don’t remember what it is called but it looks like a “snow globe” only with colored glass particles instead of “snow”. You shake it and the colored particles swirl around.” It’s not one of those globes, but I could certainly see that too. So what was it?!?

What you saw was actually clear plastic with glitter-type particles “floating” within. When you zoom in really close, such as this image, suddenly these particles look like tiny lights. Cool, eh? 😀

Day 355/365 – The Final Ten

The essence of all beautiful art, all great art, is gratitude. – Friedrich Nietzsche

As we enter the final 10-day stretch of this long 365-day project, I am so grateful to have connected with so many people! It’s definitely the people that have made this blog so fun and rewarding. Thank you for going along for the ride, no matter when or where you stumbled upon “What Is It?!?” Thank you, thank you! So what’s going to happen once we complete day 365? Well, first of all, I’m taking a break! But rest assured, you’ll get your “What Is It?!?” fix, just not as frequently. Who knows, maybe I’ll even start a Mystery Picture Photo Challenge …

But for now, back to business. Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is ready for your guessing pleasure.  Can you tell? Do you know?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 354)

Pollux started off the guessing game with, “Light bowl on the see ceiling.” But not a light bowl on the ceiling. Y. Prior commented, “it really does look like a light cover – but that did not get a ding! – so let’s see – is it a cotton swab holder for the bathroom (lol)” Alas, not a cotton swab holder. Mjollinir guessed, “A pint of Guinness?” Not Guinness. (Unfortunately!) So what was it?

What you saw was a light bulb. 😀

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 353)

Marlyn guessed, “a snap?” Not  snap. Kim asked, “A rivet on a pair of jeans?” Not a rivet on jeans either. Kathryn thought it looked frozen. And Marilyn’s perspective, “Looks like a button on a camera or some other piece of small electronics. But I’m probably wrong.” Alas, not a button on an electronic … but you do need this for some of those. 😉 Mic knew what it was, “Battery contact?” Indeed. Ding ding ding!

Yes, what you saw was the positive battery contact. 🙂

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 352)

Tcopelandfilm guessed, “sequins from a christmas tree decoration.” Not sure they’re sequins, but they are on a Christmas ornament. Ding ding ding! Kim thought, “Some sort of strange Christmas globe?” Not a strange Christmas globe, but it does have to do with Christmas. Marilyn guessed, “Some kind of Christmas decoration?” Ding ding ding!

So, yes, what you saw was a Christmas tree ornament, with lots and lots of glitter. 🙂

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 351)

Katie guessed, “Feather Duster?” Not a duster, but they are feathers. Ding ding ding! Kim said, “A feather boa?” Not a boa, but another ding ding ding! Lee-Ann commented, “Lovely photo! I was going to guess a feather boa, too. Kim beat me to it!” You still get a ding ding ding! Amanda mused, “My first thought was a sunny day in a wheat field lol :) That’s what it looks like to me, too! Y. Prior guessed, “ornamental grass?” Not ornamental grass, but I can see that too. Heather commented, “looks like chicken feathers?” Not from a chicken, but another ding ding ding! Jude said, “I’m going for ornamental grass.” Interesting, two same perspectives. Laura asked, “Feathers on a collar of a sweater?” Not on a sweater, but yet another ding ding ding! And then Girish (who always comes up with a great guess) said, “its a yak tail fan. whats that you ask – http://krishnastore.com/chamara-economy-yak-tail-fan-wisk-h-krishna-1099.html see its that. I know it is ! I need one too but thats not the point.” Alas, not a Yak tail fan, but that’s a new thing I learned for today. 😉

So yes, what you saw were indeed feathers … on a pink flamingo Christmas tree ornament. 😀

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 350)

Y. Prior commented, “day 350 – it looks like black tar – and like the potholes we saw in Buffalo last month. lol”  Well, it’s not black tar, nor a pothole. 😉 So what was it?

What you saw was the black-and-white rendition of a wood knot. Doesn’t the color version look totally different?
