La Antorcha de la Amistad
Spanish for “The Torch of Friendship”
(Two images) La Antorcha de la Amistad (“The Torch of Friendship“) is a monumental abstract sculpture located in downtown, San Antonio, Texas. World-renowned Mexican sculptor, Sebastián was commissioned to create this sculpture by the Asociación de Empresarios Mexicanos (Association of Mexican Business People). The monument was presented as a gift to the City of San Antonio from the Mexican government in 2002. The sculpture represents the cooperation and shared culture between Mexico and San Antonio.
While my family was vacationing in San Antonio, we were able to see The Torch of Friendship sculpture twice – once in a boat ride down the San Antonio river, and the other time while walking downtown. It is quite monumental to say the least. El monumento es magnifico!

I thought so, too! However, apparently many San Antonio folks didn’t like the monument.
