Experience is one thing you can’t get for nothing. – Oscar Wilde
Trying to get back on track with posting these “what is it?!?” pictures on time. I haven’t yet decided what my mystery subject will be. That’s what happens when you’ve come up with 389 subjects so far … sometimes the muse just doesn’t call or beckon me. No fears though, I’ll find it! By the time I figure this out, I’ll be inserting the picture below. It’s odd writing “Do you know? Can you tell?” when I don’t even know myself! LOL
P.S. I ended up taking photographs in black and white today, and I came up with this image. So no color changes, there was none to begin with! 🙂
What Is It?!? – Week 24/52
What Was That?!? Last Week’s Picture – Week 23/52
I’ll admit, I was running so far behind, that I reached into last year’s bucket of mystery subjects and picked out one I was pretty sure would be recognizable. Consider this your easy week. Because everyone got it!
The winning ding-ding-dings could be heard throughout the land, as scores of you guessed correctly, “toy Army men,” including Fabrio, Brenda, Jude, and Sarah. Yay!
Yes, what you saw were a bunch of toy Army men. Sarah commented, “Isn’t great that it’s such a simple toy that holds so many memories and is so recognisable to us?” Yes, indeed, I wholeheartedly agree!

A palm leaf or ornamental grass?

Not from a palm or ornamental grass. But you do get a ding since it is a leaf. Of what, though? 😉

I knew it was some sort of vegetation! Hmm, it could of course be a plant that’s well known in your region but alien to me! Looks quite similar to a corn leaf?

Not a corn leaf, and you could be correct, that this plant isn’t in your neck of the woods. Don’t read below if you don’t want to know …
It’s actually a leaf from a lily.

Is it really? Oh, we do have lilies but I thought their leaves were more smooth. Well done for foxing me!

Honestly, I don’t know the proper name for this lily, just that it’s a lily. I don’t think it’s called a Hosta lily though. Ding for the leaf! 🙂

They are also refered to as Plantain Lillys and I think, but don’t quote me, I’ve heard them called funky lillies. They have a six pointed petal flower.
