The Hawks

We have a pair of hawks that regularly call our neighborhood home; I spotted both of them on the roof of two houses last evening. They are beautiful, graceful creatures. I’d love to capture an image of them flying!

Twisted

IMG_0332

Despite the many twists and tangents, or perhaps because of the many twists and tangents, I am drawn to this bare naked tree. In the spring, many green leaves will disguise this twisted tree.

The symbiotic relationship between tree bark and moss. (Or is it lichen? Never was a scientist, only the wordsmith and artist. 😉 )

On the Springs

Wishing this was where I would be currently, instead of documenting registry keys. sigh

I took this photograph at Wakulla Springs, Florida, my other favorite place to be. Full of wildlife and great scenery!

The Longleaf Pine

IMG_0344

The other day I showed you what the wood’s floor looked like with all of the fallen pine needles; my fellow blogger friend, Brenda, asked if these were from the Longleaf Pine tree, so I thought I’d show you an example of what this ecosystem looks like. I took this photograph the same day as the other photo, it was just right around the corner. What’s great about our area here is there are so many diverse ecosystems, one minute you’re in one, the next, a totally different system.

The Pine Forest

IMG_0380

There’s a section of pine forest at the Lake Jackson Indian Mounds, which is just gorgeous in the fall/winter. The pine needles drop and cover the ground, giving a soft, warm glow.
