What Is It?!? – Week 26/52

It’s like deja-vu, all over again. – Yogi Berra

We’re halfway there! I don’t know how fast your life has sped by in the last 26 weeks, but I swear the year just began, didn’t it? Ha! Well, just in time for the halfway mark, here’s your 26th weekly “what is it?!?” mystery picture, ready for your guessing pleasure. Do you know? Can you tell?

What Was That?!? Last Week’s Picture – Week 25/52

Fabio mused, “… it seems like a wheel moving …” Not a wheel moving. Sarah guessed, “Glass dish with a red lid?” Not a glass dish with a red lid. Jude guessed, “A shot of a car from the front (hood)?” Not from the front or hood of a car … “Damn! I was convinced it was a Pontiac Firebird or something” Not that make or model … 😉

I was hoping that you’d pick up on my very subtle clue. Remember, I’m very specific when I reply. Not that make or model … funny, two of you both had images of cars. Indeed, it did come from a car. So what was it?

What you saw was a section of a taillight. From a Ford Fusion. 🙂

Taking a new perspective on an old friend. I like the black and white image, it gives it a certain “graveyard” type feel.

What Is It?!? – Week 24/52

Experience is one thing you can’t get for nothing. – Oscar Wilde

Trying to get back on track with posting these “what is it?!?” pictures on time. I haven’t yet decided what my mystery subject will be. That’s what happens when you’ve come up with 389 subjects so far … sometimes the muse just doesn’t call or beckon me. No fears though, I’ll find it! By the time I figure this out, I’ll be inserting the picture below. It’s odd writing “Do you know? Can you tell?” when I don’t even know myself! LOL

P.S. I ended up taking photographs in black and white today, and I came up with this image. So no color changes, there was none to begin with! 🙂

What Was That?!? Last Week’s Picture – Week 23/52

I’ll admit, I was running so far behind, that I reached into last year’s bucket of mystery subjects and picked out one I was pretty sure would be recognizable. Consider this your easy week. Because everyone got it!

The winning ding-ding-dings could be heard throughout the land, as scores of you guessed correctly, “toy Army men,” including Fabrio, Brenda, Jude, and Sarah. Yay!

Yes, what you saw were a bunch of toy Army men. Sarah commented, “Isn’t great that it’s such a simple toy that holds so many memories and is so recognisable to us?” Yes, indeed, I wholeheartedly agree!

Weekly Photo Challenge – Extra, Extra

2013_03_02_2570-2
Check out those hidden ancient insects trapped inside this amethyst!
2013_03_02_2508-2
See those gold and blue gemstones? Hidden treasures!

(Two images) You’d think I’d easily locate a photograph to use for this particular challenge because most of my macro photography exposes hidden subjects, like a little, itty-bitty spider. The problem is, I’ve posted most of them! I was not meant to locate the one image I searched for (where did it go?!?); however, I stumbled across one I thought perfect – a rock with hidden gemstones inside. You cannot see them with your naked eye! But then I found this other image, and I discovered the “extra, extra!” in this one – several insects trapped inside a piece of amethyst. I just love finding those hidden treasures! Don’t you?

A hunch is creativity trying to tell you something. – Frank Capra

For the 23rd weekly “what is it?!?” mystery picture, I reached into my archive bag and pulled up this image. I have not posted this mystery subject before. Can you tell? Do you know?

Week 23

What Was That?!? – Last Week’s Picture (Week 22/52)

That Montreal Girl was “stumped again.” Tracey thought, “It looks like glass. A desert dish, or vase?” Not glass. But I can see that. “Crystal knob?” It’s a knob but not crystal. Ding! “Plastic?” Ding ding ding! A plastic knob. “I shall feel very proud I guessed it right….believe me, these are very hard. I doubt I’ll ever get another one right.” You should indeed pat yourself on the back! But you’d be surprised at how many guess more than one. So keep playing! “I will definitely try.” Preeti thought, “Doorknob?” It’s a knob, but not from a door. Ding! “from a chest of drawers?” Not from a chest of drawers. Sarah thought, “Plastic salt cellar?” Not a cellar, but it is plastic! Ding! “So it’s a plastic doorknob!” Well, it’s a plastic knob, just not on a door. So you get a ding ding ding! “You really should do a door bell one of these weeks for even more Ding Dings” What a fantastic idea!

Remember, it’s not about winning, it’s about sharing your perspective!

So what you saw was a plastic faucet knob. One afternoon the light just happened to catch my eye and the rest is history. 😀

What Is It?!? – Week 22/52

Time flies over us, but leaves its shadow behind. – Nathaniel Hawthorne

Well it’s about time. This post is four days late! Alas, life – with all of its fun and complications – has sucked away all of my time. And, with starting the process of building a new house, well, it looks like time is going to be very limited for the next few months. So many details, so little time. But enough! You’re here to have fun and try to figure out this week’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture, the 22nd this year. Four days late, but within the week! So do you know? Can you tell?

What Was That?!? – Last Week’s Picture (Week 21/52)

I had a lot of fun with the guessing game here and on Facebook. So many fun guesses! Kathryn guessed, “Back of a lawn chair??” Not the back of a lawn chair. “Damn! I was pretty confident!” LOL Fabio mused, “Shadow on a floor at the patio? Missing your postings, dear Schelley! All the best to you and the family!” It is a shadow, but not on a floor. Great perspective though! That Montreal Girl stepped in, “Oh dear … lol” Giggles … Jude said, “This is a tricky one. Definitely looks like a shadow, but what on earth is that surface? I know you are the one asking the question. The markings look so uniformed it can’t be a plant leaf. No, I am going to have to come back and see if anyone else gets close.” Well, this is a tricky one. (Have y’all figured I’m tricky? ha ha ha) “Is it some kind of screen? Or fencing?” Not screen or fencing. So Fabio and Jude get one ding each for figuring out it’s a shadow. But of what? Over in Facebook land, “shadow of a deck chair?” “tiny glass beads?” “gold studs on fabric. A rug maybe?” “sesame seeds on a bun” “a shadow on a football?” “shadow of spatula over custard?” “shadows on a stone walkway?” It is a shadow, but not on a football, but part of your word fits (can you figure out this obscure clue??? “Basketball!!!” Not a basketball. “Damn” You might want to change direction? “A shoe!!”

DING DING DING! Yep, a shoe. My new shoes. I just happened to see this shadow in the car while we were traveling and I thought, what a great “what is it?!?” picture. And indeed it was. I love it when an image presents itself, I didn’t even have to look for it! 🙂

Weekly Photo Challenge: Letters

IMG_5768

Letters, letters, letters. They are all around. In this image, I share my literal interpretation of “letters,” an old fashioned post office receptacle in Disney World. This represents that old (outdated?) way of communicating, actually writing something, putting it in an envelope, and mailing it. The art of letter writing is sadly disappearing in today’s society. I’m guilty. It’s just too easy to send an email, right?

What Is It?!? – Week 14/52

If you didn’t think this year is going by quickly, knowing that we’re already into week 14, oh my, that proverbial clock’s tick keeps on pulsing faster and faster! And, time got the better of me. Yep, it happened. I missed my usual Monday’s “what is it?!?” post. Oh my! By the time I finished helping my 11-year old with homework, there was no more “time” remaining. Enough of excuses!

Your 14th weekly “what is it?!?” mystery picture is now ready for your guessing pleasure. (Finally!) Do you know? Can you tell?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? (Last Week’s Picture) – Week 13/52

Jenna started off by saying, “It’s something beautiful.” Now that’s a perspective that makes me smile! Jude’s perspective, “My first thought was cinnamon toast, but I suspect that is just wishful thinking. Could it be a rock as in sandstone?” Not a rock or sandstone, but that’s what it looks like to me. Sébastien said, “Beautiful…I’m torn between a wafer of some kind or a paper page.” Interesting perspectives, too. Neither a wafer or paper page. Sarah asked, “A ham sandwich? Or a biscuit?” Not a ham sandwich or biscuit. Mmmmmm. Hungry. “Ha ha ha! I keep thinking of gingerbread too when I look at it though I think that’s to do with its colour.” Nor gingerbread.

So what was it?!? What you saw was the space between the bark and trunk of a pine tree. Interesting, eh?
