Day 278/365 – Beauty and Joy

Beauty is whatever gives joy. – Edna St. Vincent Millay

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is ready for your guessing pleasure. Can you tell? Do you know?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 277)

Heather started off with, “hhhhmmm, my first thought was a pomegranate…”, which Jude also guessed, but it’s not a pomegranate. Mik said, “I will guess: Indian corn…for the upcoming holidays?” But it’s not Indian corn either. So what was it?

What was saw was part of a Magnolia tree blossom, which seems to transform through many stages, this being the last, where these red pods appear. As a matter of fact, I’ve used photographs of my Magnolia tree blossoms several times here, but each picture was of a different stage. Wow, what an unusual, beautiful part of nature.
