Day 132 – Secret Story

The mother’s heart is the child’s schoolroom. – Henry Ward Beecher

There’s a story behind today’s subject, which I’ll tell you in tomorrow’s “What Was That?!?” section. In the meantime, can you guess what the subject is for today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture? Can you tell? Do you know?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 131)

I just loved Shahn’s guess. As a matter of fact, here it is verbatim: GOT IT!!! Todays’ pic is a the end of a bunch of bananas!!! :)

When I was uploading yesterday’s picture I thought to myself, “Wow, that sure does look like a bunch of bananas.” But usually what you think something is really isn’t. In this case, that bunch of bananas wasn’t. Instead, what you saw was the very tip of a lily about to burst open and bloom. Ah, nature. Always full of surprises. 😉

Day 127 – Wacky Funky Perspective

Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see. – Mark Twain

I admit that I read comments on some Facebook posts, or newspaper articles, and end up being dismayed (and appalled) at the intense hatred and unkindness that some people inflict on others. Even an article about a young teacher who died here recently had insensitive and classless remarks. Sometimes I wonder why I read these things, because all they do is upset me.

The wonderful thing about being a part of this wordpress.com community is this is about the only place where I truly enjoy reading other’s comments, as kindness, encouragement, and joviality prevail here. I don’t think I’ve ever read an unkind word! What a blessing. To those that partake in my wacky funky perspective project, I thank you for tagging along. To those of you that inspire me, I thank you for being you and sharing your work and talents. And kindness!

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture was inspired by taking a simple object and photographing it by just about every angle or view I could think of. Finally, the picture came to be. Do you know? Can you tell?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 126)

Well, the guessing didn’t last very long on yesterday’s picture! Over on Facebook land, I had a guess that it was an outlet to a surge suppressor. But it’s not that. Nor was it an electrical plug (that’s what it looked like to me, too). But when http://voicesofinsanity.wordpress.com/ changed their guess to tweezers, the winning bell was rung. Ding ding ding! Great guess!

Bright Day

The sky is about to open up and let out some rain, so I thought how appropriate to post a picture of something opposite of those grey, dreary skies.

Sunspots! Sunspots!

Lots of solar activity today, numerous spots viewed while taking pictures using my camera, telescope, and solar filter.

Day 96 – It’s All Fringe to Me

Learning never exhausts the mind. – Leonardo da Vinci

What a glorious day! The sun is shining, birds singing (they’re ultra happy with me since I filled up their bird feeders), a gentle breeze, and it’s not overly hot. In just a few days, or perhaps tomorrow, the heat and humidity will make being outside unbearable. So I’m putting up with the pollen (that has coated everything once again, that’ll teach me for washing the cars!) and enjoying the great outdoors. I’ve even picked up my paint brushes and paints, not that I’m a great painter, but practice does make one better.

Just like taking these mystery “what is it?!?” photographs! Today’s subject called out to me, said “hey, look at me closely!” So I did, and now it’s your turn to guess what this is. Do you know?

What Is It?!?

20130406-2013_04_06_4542What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 95)

Funny, sometimes I post photographs that I think y’all will figure out right away, and you don’t. Other times, I post pictures that I’m sure will never be guessed, and one or two guesses later, I’m ringing the “ding ding ding” winner bell! Go figure. Such was the case with yesterday’s picture. It still remains a mystery! But not lacking guesses, oh yes indeed, there were bunches. Let’s go down the list: rope, floor mat, woven basket, sweater, weaved rug, rope (again), hair (I think it looks like Barbie hair), Chianti bottle wrap, yarn, beach bag, woven hat, wicker seat, woven blinds, soft rope, covered cork board, trivet, belt, bookmark tassel, part of a sandal, Berber carpet, and a re-useable bag. Looks like so many different things!

So here’s the reveal! Yesterday’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture was inspired by a pretty pillow with braided fringe. Yes, what you saw was a close-up of the braided fringe. 🙂

The Traveling Sun Spot

I viewed the sun at three different times today, and each time this glorious orb gave much to see. Following are pics from the second and third viewings (using my telescope, camera, and solar filter). Click the pictures to see the descriptions and all of the sun spots!Image

Day 87 – Switching Gears

Color is an intense experience on its own. – Jim Hodges

I am reveling in the sunshine that I soaked up while finding little treasures in my yard and on my prolific flowering bushes, not to mention the sun rays that beat down on me while I took photographs of the sun through my telescope. Finally, a day here in Northern Florida that wasn’t cold or windy! I’m still seeing visions of purple and yellow tiny little wildflowers covering the ground.

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture, I think, looks like something other than what it is, but it might just be me. I never know! Let’s just hope that it garners more than one guess before its identity is discovered. 🙂

What Is It?!?

ImageWhat Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 86)

Metal? It looks like something with ridges like a gear … yes, it’s metal, and yes, it’s a gear. Bicycle gear? Ding ding ding, yes, it’s a bicycle gear. Carissa and Gail both got it right. Right off the bat! Obviously I didn’t disguise yesterday’s picture very well. Or, I was just giving y’all a break. 😉

Day 86 – Lost in the Process

I put my heart and my soul into my work, and have lost my mind in the process. – Vincent Van Gogh

Between taking and posting funky pictures, helping my son type his 20-page short story, and becoming completely enthralled with an extremely long but fabulous book, I have gotten lost in the process. I realized last night that I’m in sore need of creating art, otherwise I’m going to lose my mind.

Or maybe I already lost it a long time ago? 😉

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture was taken on an impulse. I don’t know what led me to this particular subject but that’s where I ended up. Now it’s time for you to try and guess its identity. Do you know?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 85)

Is it a votive holder? No. Vertical blinds? No. Light fixture? No, but it does deal with light. Overhead work lamp? Well, it is overhead. Hanging work light? No. How about the revolving light in a lighthouse? Yes!

Yesterday’s picture was of a lighthouse lens that helps refract the light. Jerry actually left a comment that explains how this works; all I know is that the subject was interesting!

Day 80 – The Simple Life

Life is really simple, but we insist on making it complicated. – Confucius

Before my head splits in two (thanks to that White Russian daiquiri last night), I figured I better make my daily post. And no, I won’t be taking a picture of my spilled brains. 😉

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is ready for you to guess. Perhaps Gail will be stumped today? Do you know?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 79)

It might have looked like fabric, but it wasn’t. Or a skin rash! Nor was it a close up of the skin of a cherry. It also wasn’t leather or a countertop. It wasn’t water on the skin of a peach. But then Gail guessed it, again! Yes, yesterday’s picture was of tile, with a splash of water.

Day 71 – Perplexing Patterns

Great works are performed not by strength but by perseverance. – Samuel Johnson

If there’s one thing I’ve learned about myself and embrace, it’s that I persevere. Sometimes the challenge is just enough to keep me going, to not “throw in the towel,” at times to prove myself wrong (when I think I can’t do something well enough). For example, this 365-Day Project in Perspective is something that motivates me each and every day, and no matter what happens, I won’t give up – on the project – or myself. Even when I think I cannot possibly find yet another object to photograph and disguise, my muse always steps in and points me in the right direction. Such is today’s picture.

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture was inspired by pure determination to find an adequate subject for today’s photography session. Once I saw this item, I just knew it would be ideal. Plus, I love the colors! But alas, I hope not every day will be as difficult; otherwise I’m in for a long and winding journey. I cannot believe we’re already 71 days into this project. I will persevere!

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 70)

It might have looked like Naugahyde, Cajun fried turkey skin, a close up of an orange peel, or a scrubby dish sponge, but yesterday’s picture was none of the above. I’ve photographed this subject before, but I looked at it with a different perspective; actually, I was drawn to the pattern of the plastic glass that held my sweet iced tea. (Yes, I’m a dirty little sneak for posting the same subject twice, but I’ve done that before, haven’t I?!?) So yes, the picture was the pattern on a plastic drinking glass.
