Day 188 – Ageless

Youth has no age. – Pablo Picasso

I feel a strong creative wave coming on, and think I might actually draw something tonight. If I’m feeling adventurous and want to completely spray myself head to toe with insect repellent, I could grab my camera and venture outside among the thousands of mosquitoes waiting to attack. Decisions, decisions. 😉

Today’s “what is it?!?” picture is ready for your guessing pleasure. What do you see?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 187)

There were two winning ding-ding-ding bells rung yesterday, as Heather and Anna both figured out the mystery picture right away. Yes, indeed, they both knew what you saw was leather, specifically, the leather case for my beloved iPad.

Day 187 – I’ll Take the Old Wrinkles

With mirth and laughter let old wrinkles come. – William Shakespeare

Because it’s just too wet outside, and still under scattered rain that seems to have settled here for long term, the family ventured to the movie theater to see “Despicable Me 2” and I have to say there was lots of laughter involved! Those yellow minions are just too cute. When we arrived home, the rain had stopped (gasp!) and I noticed gorgeous purple blooms on one of my plants, so I quickly grabbed my camera, ran outside, and was immediately swarmed by mosquitoes. Now I bear at least a dozen or so bites on my arm. *sigh*

But I did manage to get today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture after I escaped those devil mosquitoes! What do you see?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 186)

Yesterday’s picture was the result of me showing my friend how the photo editing app, Live FX, works and how I could change something so obvious in its original form to something completely different. And I had only one guess: was it water flowing? Not water flowing. So what was it?

What you saw was a regular piece of wood, but with its negative image and different coloring, that wood changed into something else! Just a matter of perspective. 😉

Day 184 – Bring on the Clouds

Clouds come floating into my life, no longer to carry rain or usher storm, but to add color to my sunset sky. – Rabindranath Tagore

Bring on the clouds, let it rain, give color to my sunset sky! Alas, I’m sitting here looking outside and it’s so dark, like it’s almost nighttime, but it’s only the middle of the day. Constant rumbling comes from the sky and torrents of rain come down pretty much constantly. I’d much rather be in bed reading a good book, snuggled up with my son, rather than writing new documentation. It’s the perfect day for being lazy! But the job awaits …

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is ready for your perspective. What do you see?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 183)

Yesterday’s picture was finally guessed by a matter of elimination, as Melisa’s guesses were OH-SO-CLOSE! “My first guess is this: a plastic cutting board. Although it looks a little different from what we use here. My second guess is this: a white rectangular lid.”  Well, it is plastic, but it’s not a cutting board. And it is white and a lid, but not rectangular. “A square lid!!!” But it’s not square. “I don’t want to be unfair, so here’s my last guess: an oval lid!” Alas, not oval, and guesses are unlimited around here! And then Melisa nailed it with “… maybe it’s a round lid?”

Indeed! What you saw was a white, round plastic lid. Specifically, it’s a prescription medicine bottle lid. It was fun putting this to use other than fighting high blood pressure! 😉

Day 159 – All About the Experience

Experience is not what happens to you; it’s what you do with what happens to you. – Aldous Huxley

A super fast post for today, maybe we’ll even get some guesses? Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is ready for your guessing pleasure. What does it look like to you?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 158)

There are no perspectives to report to you for yesterday’s picture. And I thought it would be easily identified right away! So what did you see? While we were waiting for the Star Tours (Star Wars) ride at Hollywood Studios, I quickly snapped a photograph of the lights in the ceiling.

Day 157 – Time Out

I took some time out for life. – James L. Brooks

We have a tropical storm (Andrea) headed our way so it’s been raining steadily all day long. Although I’m enjoying the symphony of the rain’s “pittar patter” it’s making me so very sleepy!

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is one of the last I can use from our trek through Disney World this past weekend. Do you know? Can you tell?

What Is It?!?

Girish commented, “Looks like something I would see under a microscope, but i know that’s not the case.” Indeed, that wasn’t the case. So what was it?

What you saw was part of an outdoor light fixture at the Animal Kingdom Lodge. I loved those lights (and made for a great “what is it?!?” picture)!

Day 153 – Like a Cat’s Tail

Life is one long process of getting tired. – Samuel Butler

I have spent most of today – and tonight – on my feet, camera steadily clicking away. Today was truly a magical day at Disney World. But am I tired! Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture is ready for you to guess. Do you know? Can you tell?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 152)

The foliage within the Disney World complex is just beautiful, and I took many, many pictures of flowers, grasses, and other green and pretty things, one of which was yesterday’s mystery picture. I’m not surprised that I didn’t get any guesses since I posted so late. But not as late as tonight! With only minutes to spare … So what was it? One of the assorted grasses growing here. This was so soft to the touch, Ian said it reminded him of petting a cat.

Day 147 – Bet You Can’t See Me …

Follow your inner moonlight; don’t hide the madness. – Allen Ginsberg

I’m doing something a little different today for my mystery “what is it?!?” picture. Instead of disguising this subject, I’m giving you a full-view perspective. I had to search to find this recluse, nature’s camouflage helped its disguise.

If I hadn’t searched, I might not have found. The point is to look! Sometimes we go right by those things right under our nose, or under our feet. And we never even know!

Did you find it? Can you tell?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 146)

Jerry just knew I had beaten him to the punch and discovered – and photographed – a white amoeba. But alas, not this time. Was it Charlie Brown’s head? I responded that I never could get that kid to pose for me. Nor Snoopy!

So what was it? Something really, really neat! What you saw was the eye of a Stone fish. Those fish are so disguised I could locate them only by their bright white eyes! Here’s the full perspective.

Day 146 – What’s White and Bumpy?

Quality is not an act, it is a habit. – Aristotle

Today’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture was inspired by something I had never seen before. I think it is really neat! Can you guess? Do you know?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 145)

Not one guess?!? I know Gail could have figured it out, but yesterday was my nephew, Will’s, 9th birthday and today is Gail’s! Happy Birthday to two of my favorite players.

So what was it? You know, I should just use the picture for another day. But, just in case any of you made a guess but didn’t comment, I’ll go ahead and divulge the mystery identity.

What you saw was an albino alligator’s skin. That’s what’s white and bumpy! 😉 20130525-154829.jpg

Day 145 – A Whale of a Great Time

Blue, green, grey, white, or black; smooth, ruffled, or mountainous; that ocean is not silent. – H. P. Lovecraft

There’s something about going through photographs taken during a trip, it’s like you get to relive those moments and notice things you didn’t originally see . Since I’ve been suffering from that throbbing aching tooth (which has to be extracted on Wednesday, ick), I’ve had plenty of time to view the 1,000 + images from our adventure. I’ve even managed to find a photograph that I can use for today’s mystery “what is it?!?” image. Do you know? Can you tell?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 144)

Gail thought it might be some kind of dinosaur bones. Not from a dinosaur. Jerry thought it might be bones of a Manatee. Not from a Manatee. Jerry finally guessed: it was bones from a whale.

What you saw was a flipper from the complete skeleton from a Right Whale (at the Georgia Aquarium). This type of whale got its name from the beginning of the whaling industry, in that these were the “right” whales to catch. Isn’t it interesting how the flipper actually looks like bones from a hand?
