For years I have lusted the Zeiss lenses, and never thought I’d be able to purchase, until the universe somehow hooked me up with a great deal. I am now the third owner of the Zeiss Makro Planer 50mm 2.0f lens, and this glass is simply amazing. The bokeh is so smooth and soft! Even a poison ivy vine is beautiful, eh?
It’s that time of year here in sunny Florida where fall and spring somehow overlap and sometimes summer sneaks in for a day or two. This year the plants, trees, flowers, and wildflowers (aka “weeds”) all started blooming very early because Mother Nature just couldn’t make up her mind. One day fall, next day there’s yellow stuff (aka “nasty pollen”) everywhere, and by everywhere, that’s exactly what I mean. It falls so quickly that if you’re outside for more than 15 minutes, you’re coated with that yellow stuff too. And most likely, a sinus infection.
But such is life, an ever-changing, unpredictable, beautiful yet sometimes painful, life.
I’ve been fascinated by rocks and gemstones ever since a wee toddler, and I’ve gathered several (cough, cough) of these beautiful stones over the years. Now I want to learn all about them! I love using my macro lens to get really close up shots, because you usually see things you can’t. This is a blue apatite stone, and it’s about the size of a dime. My blue apatite is very smooth on both sides and comforting to touch, and shows off such a glorious composition of colors and sparkles.
Beauty is hidden everywhere, you merely have to look!

One of the prettiest covers I’ve ever seen adorns a sidewalk in Tampa, Florida; my interpretation of this week’s photo challenge, Circle.
