Day 136 – Back in the Kitchen

Happiness is an inside job. – William Arthur Ward

Today I know precisely what I want to photograph, an earlier venture this morning led me to my discovery. It’s the little things that make me happy indeed! Perhaps that’s why I focus on the little stuff. (pun intended!)

I was actually inspired by the feel of today’s mystery “what is it?!?” subject, and the look of it, too. Do you know? Can you tell?

What Is It?!?

What Was That?!? Yesterday’s Picture (Day 135)

After I posted yesterday’s picture, the image was still on my computer screen when my son walked by and said, “what is that?” I knew I had achieved my mission. It’s interesting the things you discover when you focus really close on something. Was it an orange peel? Not an orange peel. How about cookie batter? Not cookie batter either, but kind of close.

What you saw was yeast proofed in warm milk. Yeast is such an interesting thing, it transforms from a dormant state to alive, bubbling, and expelling all kinds of yeasty beasties. That yeast makes flour, milk, sugar, eggs and butter turn into the most delicious rolls. My husband said last night, “I rate this a 12!” (out of a scale of 1-10) “You’ve beat those King’s Hawaiian Rolls!” And those are some yummy rolls.
