What Is It?!? – Week 29/52

Today was good. Today was fun. Tomorrow is another one. – Dr. Seuss

Well, I finally did it, I missed an entire week of posting. Somehow Week 28 disappeared in my world – as we were on a fun-filled vacation in Costa Rica. But now I’m trying to get back on track. So let’s pick up and forget last week. Here is your 29th weekly “what is it?!?” mystery picture, ready for your guessing pleasure. Can you tell? Do you know?

What Was That?!? Week 27/52

Tracey guessed it immediately, “So this weeks pic … fireworks?” Dang. Ding ding ding! Yep, fireworks, taken as I was zooming in and out. Great guess! “Yay! But I have to admit, on July 4th I got a lot of photos like this, so this was kid of easy for me.”

Maybe this week’s will be just a tad harder? 😀

What Is It?!? – Week 27/52

We travel, some of us forever, to seek other states, other lives, other souls. – Anais Nin

My mind has already left for our upcoming trip to Costa Rica. I guess I better do laundry to pack so my body can join up soon! In the meantime, here is your 27th weekly “what is it?!?” mystery picture, ready for your guessing pleasure. Can you tell? Do you know?

What Was That?!? Last Week’s Picture – Week 26/52

Kayla started off the guessing game with “Rosemary.” Not Rosemary. Jude mused, “Darn! I should have come back to you on the car. I meant to but Wimbledon is on now so I have been distracted from blogging! … Stamens from a lily?” Not stamens from a lily. “Is it a plant?” Yes. Well, kind of. Ding ding ding! So exactly what was it? What you saw was a very tiny weed (zoomed in very close), which looked so interesting with these spike-looking protrusions.

Week26

P.S. My family will be traveling next week, and I’m leaving the computer behind, which means your week 28 mystery picture will be late, maybe just in time for week 29. But who knows! If I can find a way, I will make a post.

It’s like deja-vu, all over again. – Yogi Berra

We’re halfway there! I don’t know how fast your life has sped by in the last 26 weeks, but I swear the year just began, didn’t it? Ha! Well, just in time for the halfway mark, here’s your 26th weekly “what is it?!?” mystery picture, ready for your guessing pleasure. Do you know? Can you tell?

What Was That?!? Last Week’s Picture – Week 25/52

Fabio mused, “… it seems like a wheel moving …” Not a wheel moving. Sarah guessed, “Glass dish with a red lid?” Not a glass dish with a red lid. Jude guessed, “A shot of a car from the front (hood)?” Not from the front or hood of a car … “Damn! I was convinced it was a Pontiac Firebird or something” Not that make or model … 😉

I was hoping that you’d pick up on my very subtle clue. Remember, I’m very specific when I reply. Not that make or model … funny, two of you both had images of cars. Indeed, it did come from a car. So what was it?

What you saw was a section of a taillight. From a Ford Fusion. 🙂

What Was That?!? Last Week’s Picture – Week 24/52

Sarah guessed, “Celery in B&W?” Not celery. “A palm leaf or ornamental grass?” Not from a palm or ornamental grass. But you do get a ding for guessing a leaf. Of what, though? “I knew it was some sort of vegetation! Hmm, it could of course be a plant that’s well known in your region but alien to me! Looks quite similar to a corn leaf?” Not a corn leaf, and you could be correct, that this plant isn’t in your neck of the woods. It’s actually a leaf from a lily. “Is it really? Oh, we do have lilies but I thought their leaves were more smooth. Well done for foxing me!” Meanwhile, Jude was thinking along the same lines, “Palm leaf?” Not from a Palm, but it is a leaf. One more ding! Tracey asked, “Is it a Hosta Lily leaf?”“But no, cos we do have them here … hmmmm”

Between you ladies you’ve got three ding ding dings! So what was it? What you saw was part of a lily leaf. What type of lily? If I was a good gardener, I could tell you. My mom would have known, these lilies came from her. So anyway, how different it looks in black and white, eh? Seemed to give the leaf a different depth perspective.

P.S. This is just for JC: I did do this post while you were here. 😀 I know, I’m a stinker!

Time flies over us, but leaves its shadow behind. – Nathaniel Hawthorne

Well it’s about time. This post is four days late! Alas, life – with all of its fun and complications – has sucked away all of my time. And, with starting the process of building a new house, well, it looks like time is going to be very limited for the next few months. So many details, so little time. But enough! You’re here to have fun and try to figure out this week’s mystery “what is it?!?” picture, the 22nd this year. Four days late, but within the week! So do you know? Can you tell?

What Was That?!? – Last Week’s Picture (Week 21/52)

I had a lot of fun with the guessing game here and on Facebook. So many fun guesses! Kathryn guessed, “Back of a lawn chair??” Not the back of a lawn chair. “Damn! I was pretty confident!” LOL Fabio mused, “Shadow on a floor at the patio? Missing your postings, dear Schelley! All the best to you and the family!” It is a shadow, but not on a floor. Great perspective though! That Montreal Girl stepped in, “Oh dear … lol” Giggles … Jude said, “This is a tricky one. Definitely looks like a shadow, but what on earth is that surface? I know you are the one asking the question. The markings look so uniformed it can’t be a plant leaf. No, I am going to have to come back and see if anyone else gets close.” Well, this is a tricky one. (Have y’all figured I’m tricky? ha ha ha) “Is it some kind of screen? Or fencing?” Not screen or fencing. So Fabio and Jude get one ding each for figuring out it’s a shadow. But of what? Over in Facebook land, “shadow of a deck chair?” “tiny glass beads?” “gold studs on fabric. A rug maybe?” “sesame seeds on a bun” “a shadow on a football?” “shadow of spatula over custard?” “shadows on a stone walkway?” It is a shadow, but not on a football, but part of your word fits (can you figure out this obscure clue??? “Basketball!!!” Not a basketball. “Damn” You might want to change direction? “A shoe!!”

DING DING DING! Yep, a shoe. My new shoes. I just happened to see this shadow in the car while we were traveling and I thought, what a great “what is it?!?” picture. And indeed it was. I love it when an image presents itself, I didn’t even have to look for it! 🙂

The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are. – Joseph Campbell

It’s been busy here over at Casa Cassidy, and by busy I mean overwhelming. Already the end of a school year, and I swear that school just started! Summer approaches and I’m ready for some pool time. Sadly, I have no pool. 😉 So here is your 21st weekly “what is it?!?” mystery picture. Do you know? Can you tell?

What Was That?!? Week 20/52 (Last Week’s Picture)

Brenda started off with, “Beer? Or ginger ale?” Not carbonation, it’s … “bubbles?” Kind of. Bubbles from what? One ding! “soap?” Not soap. “Schelley, you are tricky. I feel like I’ve seen this one before and gone through the same guessing pattern. And still I can’t remember the answer. Hmmm…. Is it edible? Did you change the color? Is it oil?” LOL! It is edible. I did not change the color. It isn’t oil. But I think that’s the picture you are remembering. Tracey jumped in, “Champagne?” Not champagne. It’s not carbonation, it’s … That Montreal Girl guessed, “7 up?” Not 7 up. Not carbonation, it’s … (Anyone know what I’m getting at here?) “Water?” It is water, do you know what FORM of water?” It’s not carbonation, it’s … One ding! “Dear lord … I’m stuck lol”  Hmmmm, it’s how that water formed that way. Does that help? “Nope lol I am really having a blond week” “Good grief, I still can’t figure it out lol” Preeti guessed, “Soda.” Not soda. Not carbonation, it’s … Jude mused, “I’m going for champagne – all those bubbles – get right up your nose” And I can feel my nose tickle! Alas, it’s not champagne. It’s not carbonation, it’s … “frog-spawn????” LOLOL! Nope, ribbit. Sarah guessed, “I wonder if it’s a glass ornament?” Not a glass ornament. Bill said, “I would’ve guessed air bubbles in wax, like an ornamental candle.” Not bubbles in wax, but love that perspective!  Sébastien said, “Looks like a body wash/shampoo that was shaken.” Not any type of body wash or shampoo. But you’re right, it does look like soap bubbles. Tracey said, “A sweaty glass of iced water? I’m totally no good at this.” Well, it is water, but not from a sweaty glass of iced water. So do you know what FORM of water this is? One ding so far! Sarah jumped back in, “Condensation?” Ding ding ding!

Yes, what you saw was condensation caused by water in a plastic bottle sitting out in the sun.

What Was That?!? ((Last Week’s Picture) – Week 19/52

Over in Facebook land, Kristin started the guessing game with, “does it start with a B and end with an i?” Why yes it does, unless you’re guessing bikini. Stephanie guessed, “jasmine!” Not jasmine. Lily mused, “Asparagus or broccoli?” One of those answers is correct. Dan guessed it, “BROCCOLI!” And over here in WordPress.com land, Sarah guessed it right away, “Looks like broccoli?” Ding ding ding! Ding ding ding! Ding ding ding! Ding ding ding! Four rounds of winnings ding-ding-dings for Kristin, Lily, Dan, and Sarah. Wow!

So yes, what you saw was broccoli; regardless this one was guessed almost immediately, it was still fun, eh?

image

P.S. I took this picture with my macro lens attachment for my iPhone while eating dinner with my son; we were talking about how the broccoli looks like trees. Suddenly I was inspired! You never know until you look.

All that we see or seem is but a dream within a dream. – Edgar Allan Poe

Wow. Week 19, I can barely keep up, here I am a day late with very little time left for this day. Such is my life. Actually, this seems to be the norm now. Always busy, never enough time. Must make time to dream. So anyway, for the nineteenth time this year, I challenge you to tell me what this is. Do you know? Can you tell?

What Was That?!? – Week 18/52 (Last Week’s Picture)

Fabio started off with, “Let me try again… maybe the seat of a chair? I know I am not good…” Alas, not the seat of a chair, but remember, this isn’t about winning, it’s about sharing your perspective! Brenda guessed, “placemat?” Not a placemat either. “Outdoor furniture?” Not outdoor furniture. But you can use it outdoors. “Athletic gear?” Not athletic gear. Jude mused, “Fabric?” Not fabric. “Leather?” Not leather. “Mmm… I like the light on this object so maybe it is something hard, like china or stone?” Not anything hard, this is flexible. “A plastic chair?” Not a plastic chair. “This is going to be some American thing that we don’t have over here isn’t it! Is it some sort of waterproof covering that you throw over furniture?” Actually, ding ding ding! You got it, indeed waterproof covering, in this case, a tarp. One thing I really like about having this blog is learning how some things are so different “across the pond.” I am always enlightened. In the meantime, Sarah guessed, “Is it a hat? Woven from straw or something similar?” Not a hat and not straw. “Ah, Jude got it! I never would have got that!!” I also love the interaction. Well done, folks! That was a great round of playing the weekly “what is it?!?” guessing game!

What Was That?!? (Last Week’s Picture) – Week 17/52

Fabio started the guessing game, “Schelley, is it a cork?” Not a cork. Cee mused, “No clue. I’ll have tot put on my thinking cap. Maybe part of a tattoo.” Not part of a tattoo, but I can see that. Sarah said, “Looks like someone went a bit mad with some eyeliner on the back of their hand!!!” LOL! Not eyeliner gone mad. “Is it a piece of decorated pottery?” Ding ding ding! Yes, it is a piece of decorated pottery. Do you know what in particular made the decoration? “Yay me … I suspect it was string dipped in paint!” Not a string dipped in paint. “Was it something simple like a felt tipped pen?” Not simple. So what was it?

What you saw was a piece of horsehair pottery. This technique, created by Native Americans, was told to have happened when a Pueblo woman’s hair brushed against the very hot pottery just out of the kiln. What resulted was a beautiful pattern. She played with applying different items, and stumbled upon horsehair creating the nicest effect. It is indeed beautiful!

What Was That?!!? (Last Week’s Picture) – Week 16/52

Fabio started the guessing game, “Schelley, let me try this one. It seems that you finally have heard our cries and put up something easier this week. Is it the back of a chair? If I am wrong, it will not be a surprise. Please bear with my ignorance…PS: Despite my complaints, frankly, I love this part of your blog show. Bravissimo, Schelley!!!” It almost pained me to say that this isn’t the back of a chair. But I’m so glad you enjoy these little challenges! And then isotel came along and figured it out. “I think it’s a … key?” Ding ding ding! Yep, it’s a key. Great guess! Sébastien even got it right. “This has to be definitely a metallic object..A cog or key?” Correct on two counts: metallic and a key. Double ding ding dings! Sarah said, “Well I never would have guessed it was pollen! I got this one, a key, but not quick enough” Triple ding ding dings!

So I guess that was an easy one, eh? Yes, what you saw was a key. A key that I found cleaning a drawer. A key to what? I have no idea. So even though the challenge was easy, the key truly is a “mystery’ subject! 😀
